Conducting experience spanning ensembles in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America, with a focus on diverse repertoire and artistic collaboration.

Daniel Taborda is a Colombian conductor and composer based in China, working across orchestral, wind ensemble, and chamber repertoire. His approach to conducting draws on his compositional practice, with particular attention to musical structure, rhythmic character, orchestral colour, and dramatic pacing.

Recent conducting experience includes masterclasses with the Helsinki Metropolitan Orchestra under Sasha Mäkilä and Camerata Belgrade in 2026. In Helsinki, he conducted the second movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (“Eroica”) during the masterclass and Verdi’s “Morrò, ma prima in grazia” in the final concert. In Belgrade, his repertoire included Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings, and movements from Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 (“Italian”), whose second movement he conducted in the final concert.

His training also includes postgraduate conducting studies with Piotr Borkowski at the Akademia Sztuki w Szczecinie in Poland, a master’s degree in conducting from Oklahoma City University, and masterclasses in Taiwan, Czechia, and Italy.

Alongside his orchestral work, Taborda conducts student ensembles and works with professional musicians on interpretation and ensemble preparation. His programmes bring together established repertoire, contemporary music, and his own compositions.
